A Little About Me...

So, I have always admired  things of old and the history that they carry. Forgotten treasures bursting with charm, only in need of a little love and perhaps some paint. I love watching the process of transformation and renewal. I  don't think that I could ever grow tired of it and how it also  relates to life. My love and collection of all things Vintage started when I was a young girl, but it was not until I began to plan  my wedding that I would seriously try my hand at painting and restoring. The wedding, small and intimate, was held in our backyard. Surrounded by beautiful neighboring farm land. Naturally, the style was to be rustic/counrty/vintage elegance...

(if there really was such a thing? ha!). Thankfully, I have now distinguished the differences in those styles!

What I discovered though, at the time, was  that  those unique pieces I envisioned to use for my special day were not available for rental or purchase in my area. So, out of need I began my search for the perfect pieces  and materials and created the atmosphere myself! From the  large focal piece, down to the tiny details. It was hard work,  but so much fun!!. The flower garland for the arch we said our vows under were all handmade from white tissue paper!  A beautiful hand-me-down bookshelf from my sister in law,  transformed into white shabby-chic for the focal piece.

You can check out a few pictures of my wedding work here.

I was really happy with the way everything turned out, and  we received many compliments from our guests... So, it was  really at that moment, that a hobby grew into a passion!  Since then, I have been sharpening my skills, renewing  pieces of furniture for my home and for friends and family...

I believe that we all have gifts, something God given in  each of us that we are just meant to use. I love the idea that  we were created in such a way that, there is already  something inside us that we are good at! A unique gift that  is waiting to be recognized, waiting to be honed and  waiting to give our lives purpose. For me, one of those  gifts is creating beautiful things out of seemingly worn and  forgotten treasures, so that they can be enjoyed again.
